Most people automatically associate Microsoft with Windows and Office, but in addition to several software suites, the software giant carries an extensive lineup of peripherals. Today HardwareLogic takes the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 for a spin.

Sing with us now: "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Microsoft Hardware, happy birthday to you - you live in a zoo..."  So why have we broken out into song for this review?  No, we're not off our rockers (we fell off long ago), but Microsoft Hardware is turning 25!

This year Microsoft Hardware is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Microsoft Hardware dates back to 1982, when the group was formed and charged with creating the company's first mouse compatible with Microsoft® Word. The next year the Microsoft Hardware Group shipped its first mouse, enabling people to interact with their computer more efficiently than before. In the 25 years since, this experienced team of 200 - including ergonomists, usability experts, developers, marketers and industrial designers - has worked to create, develop and market breakthrough technologies that improve the way people interact with software and services, bringing them all together to create the best experience on the PC.
Microsoft Hardware

To commemorate their 25th anniversary, Microsoft Hardware is turning full circle back to where it all began and unleashing a bevy of new mice into the peripheral marketplace.  Today HardwareLogic gets hands-on with the Microsoft Laser Wireless Mouse 6000 (we'll be looking at the 7000 in the coming weeks).  As the name implies, the 6000 sports a 2.4GHz wireless connection while adding a snap-in receiver, ergonomic right-handed design,  High Definition Laser Technology, and other goodies culminating from 25 years experience.  But unlike the 1980s, high tech rodents now litter the peripheral landscape.  Can the 6000 hang with the best today has to offer?
