Antec P190 + 1200 Case Review - Internal and installation

March 17th, 2008
Antec's P190 + 1200 marks the sixth chassis in their Performance One series, while also laying claim as the flagship model. Join HardwareLogic as we compare this newest edition to a classic lineup.

As previously mentioned, providing power are dual PSUs.  On the surface, bundling two PSUs carries a certain novelty factor, but there are a couple negatives with this approach.  First, well, you're lugging around two freaking power supplies, which together add over 8.5lbs to the chassis.  How about a single 1200W unit instead?  Secondly, the power distribution could have been better implemented.  The 650W unit supplies juice to both the motherboard and all videocards, while the partially modular 550W supplies electricity to your peripherals.  With videcoards starting to sport two GPUs on a single PCB and affordable multiple card setups trickling into the mainstream, we'd much rather the peripherals and motherboard share a PSU, giving the videocards a dedicated unit.

Connectors

  • 1 x 20/24 motherboard
  • 1 x 4 pin 12V motherboard
  • 1 x 8 pin 12V motherboard
  • 2 x 8 (6+2) pin PCI-E
  • 2 x 6 pin PCI-E
  • 4 x SATA (attached)
  • 2 x SATA (modular)
  • 6 x Molex (attached)
  • 12 x Molex (modular)

BAM!  A clean install, with plenty of room to spare.  With cable routing options galore, there's no excuse to let unsightly wiring dangle willy-nilly, save for impatience.  And with a much better cooling scheme this time around, your efforts will be rewarded, even if you can't physically see them (no side window option).
