Hailing from Round Rock, Texas, LapLogic has been churning out laptop cooling accessories since 2003. A privately held company, LapLogic utilizes state of the art technology and materials, making no bones that this approach will often lead to higher priced albeit "best in class" products. You can't help but admire the company's no nonsense approach to business, which puts a greater focus on the product than it does on marketing.  And having a sense of humor doesn't hurt, either.

"Our philosophy is simple: our customers do not want cheap products, they want quality products. And that is all we sell. We might not be the least expensive, but we firmly believe we are the best in class at what we do. Our company values are simple: treat people as you want to be treated. Make the world a better place. And, if you can't have fun at work, what's the point?."  Read more...

Chances are if you are a laptop road warrior, you are well versed in just how hot your portable friend can get. No doubt you have felt the fiery dragon breath of your notebook sitting on your lap as you feverishly crank out that overdue TPS report. Well, the good folks at LapLogic think they have a solution. The W800 Aerogel Extreme is aimed at professionals and enthusiasts alike that abhor having to suffer a notebook's hot exhaust on their laps. By utilizing the latest in space-age materials, the W800 lap desk is primed for consumers that demand a better cooling solution for their mobile lives. Can it deliver?

Cooling devices designed for notebooks come in either one of two flavors - those that cool laptops passively through the use of thermal pads and lap desks, and those that cool them actively using fans powered by USB. Regardless of the method, one thing remains true. Much has been written and debated about the two cooling disciplines as people from both camps argue and defend their positions on this topic ad nauseum. However, the common denominator despite the bickering is that everyone agrees that a laptop needs to be cooled, method be damned.

And thus the LapLogic G800 Aerogel Extreme enters the fray, firmly planting itself in the passive cooling arena. Our first impression upon removing the G800 from its packaging was that it is extremely lightweight. At 16 ounces, the portability potential of this product is enormous. The gray bottom of the G800 is covered with ScotchGuard coated ballistic nylon, which is overlaid by two black padded areas on either side of the unit. These black areas are where your legs will go when you lay the G800 on your lap.

New to the G800 extreme series is the inclusion of a media holder in the form of a plastic pocket on the bottom-center of the unit. This transparent pocket can hold CD's, DVD's, and business cards. One of the more unique features of the G800 is that it uses non-slip material to ensure that the lap desk does not slide off your legs. This material has a bit of a tacky feeling to it, and when placed on a counter top or on top of our legs, we were unable to get the G800 to slide without using excessive force.
