Webcams are continually evolving. Those of you that claim to be 'old-school' remember well the blurry and pixelated pictures that used to stream from one webcam to another. My how times have changed. With ISPs stepping up to the plate with increased bandwidth, both upload and download, users need not make so many concessions with video quality (we're talking to you, YouTube!). Computer enthusiasts are calling out for clear and crisp video recordings for their newly built rigs, and companies like Logitech are trying to answer that call.
Logitech is without a doubt one of the most recognized names in the computer industry, especially when it comes to peripherial products. So with that introduction it's obvious they don't need anyone to help them toot their horn, so we'll just stop right their. Logitech sent us their newest pair of QuickCams and we were interested in finding out exactly how much has improved since we reviewed their QuickCam and QuickCam Deluxe for Notebooks last June. The inclusion of Carl Zeiss Optics, as listed on the box, was probably the most notable upgrade. But how much do the new lenses really improve the video quality? Stick with us as we take a closer look into hardware and software upgrades that came with these new QuickCams.

Both packages came with a quick start guides and installation CD with the latest QuickCam software (version 11.0). The QuickCam Pro 9000 came attached to a double-hinged clip. The QuickCam Pro for Notebooks package also includes a small carrying case and a 3-piece stand. The stand breaks down into 3-pieces to make it easier to carry in your laptop bag, but don't expect it to fit in the included carrying case; it is only big enough for your camera and USB cord.
